Gifts of Real Estate
(Gift illustration)

How it works

You deed your home, a commercial building, or investment property to Save the Children.

Save the Children may use the property for its own purposes, or, more likely, will sell it and use the proceeds for our programs.

The Gift Acceptance Committee at Save the Children:

All contributions of non-cash assets to Save the Children are subject to review by our Gift Acceptance Committee. Rarely would Save the Children accept gifts of assets that would incur risk or cost to the organization. We always strongly recommend that you consult your tax and legal advisors before making financial decisions relating to charitable donations.

Benefits

  • You receive an income tax deduction for the fair market value of the real estate, no matter what you originally paid for it.
  • You pay no capital gains tax on the transfer.
  • You can direct the proceeds from your gift to a specific Save the Children program.

For more information

Email us, complete the personal illustration form, or call us at 1-800-544-4470 so that we can assist you through every step of the process.
