In 1919 an extraordinary and compassionate woman, Eglantyne Jebb, founded Save the Children in Great Britain to help starving orphans in post-World War I Austria. Thirteen years later, in 1932 during the Great Depression, Save the Children was established in the United States to help children in rural Appalachia.

Over the decades, millions of children's lives have been saved and millions more improved because of the vision, dedication and generosity of people who chose to make a difference through their support.
